The Flex-48™ Adaptive Treatment System allows users to introduce absorption, diffusion, and low-frequency control in one product on demand.
The main components are the FulFill™ Acoustical Panel and the reflective Flex-Shield. The brushed stainless steel Flex-Tray is the mounting device for both the acoustical panel and the shield.

US Patent #9,595,254 Flex-48™ Adaptive Treatment System
When fully exposed, with no shield in place, the FulFill panel behaves as a passive absorber, removing energy from the room. When the Flex-Shield is installed, a barrel-type diffuser is created. The higher frequencies are now scattered evenly throughout the room, retaining liveliness, while the mid and low frequencies continue to pass through to the FulFill panel. The air gap between the Flex-Shield and the FulFill panel, combined with the sympathetic vibration of the Flex-Shield, increases the low-frequency absorption of the panel.

Flex-48 Install Guide
Installation Guide
Important
- Review the materials list to ensure all components are present before installation. Read through all installation instructions.
- Be sure your hands are clean or wear gloves (especially when installing light-colored fabric panels).
- Metal impalers on the Flex-Tray ship flat. Leave impalers flat until ready to attach the Flex-Tray to the wall (see section II. below).
- The Flex-48 Adaptive Treatment System is not intended for ceiling applications.
Materials and Tools List
In the box:
Tools you’ll need:
- Tape Measure
- Level
- Pencil
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flat-head screwdriver to bend
Optional/Recommended:
- Room treatment design plan
- Heavy-bodied, water-based adhesive (e.g. PL200)
- Needle-nose pliers
- Stud finder
Flex-48 Installation Steps
I. Preparation
- Measure and mark the wall for placement of the Flex-48. Hold the Flex-Tray (A) in the desired location, using a level to ensure it is straight.
- Using the Flex-Tray as a template, mark the wall through the six (6) pre-drilled screw holes with a pencil.
- For each screw hole placement without a stud, install a supplied drywall anchor (E) using a screwdriver. Do not overtighten anchors.
II. Install Flex-Tray:
- Peel off the PVC protective coating from the Flex-Tray.
- Mount MLV pads (D) to the back of the tray, as shown in diagram 1 (below), by peeling off the backing and pressing it into place.
- With a flat-head screwdriver, carefully push metal impalers from the back of the tray towards the front, protruding at a 20 to 30-degree angle. Use caution—impalers are sharp!
- Line up Flex-Tray with the pre-drilled screw holes and/or anchors in the wall, and starting from the top, attach the Flex-Tray, with the provided screws(F) to the wall. Make sure screws are tight enough to secure the Flex-Tray snugly to the wall, but do not overtighten screws.
III. Install FulFill Acoustical Panel:
- Hold up the FulFill Acoustical Panel (B) between the Flex-Tray's side rails, ensuring the panel is centered between the tray side rails. The FulFill Acoustical Panel must be centered for the shield to install correctly.
- Once centered, attach the panel by pressing down toward the wall so metal impalers embed firmly in the back of the panel. TIP: Have pliers on hand in case impalers need to be bent slightly more outward.
- Recommended: Apply heavy-bodied, water-based adhesive (e.g. PL200) to the tips of the impalers of the FlexTray to keep the FulFill panel firmly in place when installing/removing the Flex-Shield repeatedly over time.
IV. Install/Uninstall Flex-Shield:
- Insert one edge of the Flex-Shield (C) into the side rail of the Flex-Tray. Bend the Flex-Shield to create an arc across the panel.
- Insert the other edge of the Flex-Shield into the opposite rail. TIP: It is easiest to start by placing the bottom corner of the Flex-Shield edge into the rail and work up to complete the installation.
- To uninstall the Flex-Shield, carefully release one Flex-Shield edge at a time from the tray. Be sure you have a solid grip on the Flex-Shield when removing it.
