Please follow these instructions if you need to edge-cut your fabric-wrapped panels in the field. (If you want to make a cut-out in your panel instead, instructions are here.)
You’ll need to have on hand:
- Straight edge
- Clamps
- Sharp scissors to cut fabric
- Utility knife
- Tape measure
- Clean work surface
- 3m spray adhesive
Installation Instructions:
1. Lay the panel down with the panel back facing up. Begin gently pulling the fabric back from the edge you need to cut. Flip the panel over as the fabric is released from the back and the corners.
2. Continue pulling the fabric away from the front of the panel core. You’ll want the fabric pulled back at least two inches from the cut line (A).
2. Mark the desired cut line on the panel core (A). TIP: Be sure to deduct for fabric thickness
3. Place a straight edge along the cut line and keep it in place with clamps. Using a utility knife, cut through the panel core using the straight edge as your guide (B).
4. Cut the excess fabric, leaving two inches more fabric than the panel thickness. (i.e. for a 2" panel, leave 4") (C).
5. Keeping the fabric pulled back, spray adhesive on the face of the panel and the edge. TIP: Keep the coat thin and even to avoid adhesive bleed-through. Now, gently press the fabric to the face and edge of the panel. Carefully rub the fabric by hand (clean hand!), checking as you go to be sure the fabric is straight and without lumps or creases (D).
6. Make sure your surface is still clean. Flip the panel over so the fabric face is now down and the panel back is up. Apply spray adhesive to the back of the panel, starting at the edge and covering 2" from the edge. Press the fabric down as in the previous step (E).
7. Using the scissors, trim the excess fabric off the back and corners. Be sure to leave enough fabric to cover each corner (F).
